6. Don’t Look Up ‘Symptoms’ Online

The biggest mistake that a person with severe anxiety can do is look up your ‘symptoms’ online. People with anxiety over-exaggerate and often times believe they are sick or unhealthy and don’t know why. Many people turn to Google for the answer…which a big No-No!

Websites like Web-MD can make someone with anxiety go crazy. You may look up aching chest…and you will immediately see symptoms of a heart attack. If you have anxiety, you know deep down you are not having a heart attack, but your mind will dwell on the ‘What if I am’, thoughts…therefore causing a panic attack.

It’s best to stay away from looking up your ‘symptoms’ online, all together.

7. Get Up In The Morning

Anxiety is often times accompanies by depression. Try to get up early in the morning and start your day. Sleeping in late can cause more anxiety, stress and depression.

I used to set my alarm for 6:30 a.m.. I would get right up…even if I had to force myself…I would make it happen. Once up, I would open up my shades…open a window and breath in some fresh air. Take a hot shower, eat a good breakfast and start my day!

Do this and by 8 a.m., you will be feeling like a million bucks! You will have a sense of accomplishment…even though you haven’t really done anything. Just knowing you are not still sleeping is huge!

8. Have A Plan & Be Productive

Have a plan or your day…everyday. Before you go to bed, write down or at least plan tomorrow out in your head. Having a sense of accomplishment is a big deal when dealing with anxiety. You want to feel good and know that you have a productive day ahead.

The more productive you are…the less time you have to think about negative thoughts.

9. Lose The Caffeine

This was probably the hardest thing to do when I was battling my anxiety because I freaking love coffee so much. I started replacing my coffee addiction with water. I would carry around a Poland Spring bottle of water all day long and refill it time and time again.

Drinking a lot of water throughout the day as many benefits. It will keep your body feeling healthy. When you have a healthy body, you have a healthy mind…and with a healthy mind…there is no anxiety. See how that works?

So lose the caffeine and start drinking more water…you will thank me later! 🙂

10. Friends

Keep good company. Don’t surround yourself with negative people. Negative breeds negative. If you engage and surround yourself with negative people, you will only receive negative vibes in return. Negative vibes are no good for those battling anxiety.

Surround yourself with positive people. People who laugh a lot and have minimal stress in their lives. Just like negative breeds negative…positive breeds positive.

If you make these life changes and stick with them…you will notice your anxiety fade away. It will take time and hard work, but I can personally attest to the fact that the end result is worth it. Once you anxiety is gone and you have re-trained your brain…you can shy away from some of these things. For instance, I drink coffee everyday all day now…and it doesn’t bother me.

Hope this helps!
