UK-based artist Ian Berry is pushing the limits with his artful, denim portraits of everyday life using only jeans.

“Everything you see in my work is denim, nothing else, no paint, nor bleach,” he said.

The only thing Berry alters is the shape of the material using good old-fashioned scissors and glue.

Berry uses blue, black, and gray jeans for his work, cutting and adhering various size and shaped pieces to a platform. His diversified shapes create lifelike shadows for depth and texture yielding photorealistic results.

If you’re wondering about the theme, Berry draws inspiration from London’s laundromats after witnessing so many close down. My Beautiful Launderette is one of two exhibitions on display in London throughout November at the Catto Gallery. They’re also available for purchase.
