Glen Keane has worked at Disney for decades and during that time has drawn up some of the world’s most iconic film characters. From “The Little Mermaid” to “Beauty and the Beast,” Glen has been at the forefront of the animation industry. However, in the last decade hand-drawn animation has all but disappeared in favor of computer animation. Many have said that 2D animation is a lost art form.

Glen doesn’t think so. With new virtual reality technology, 2D artists keep the spirit of their work alive by creating images by hand in a virtual workspace. As Glen demonstrates, this allows familiar 2D images and characters to come alive like never before. Hopefully with this new technology, talented 2D artists can bring their work to mainstream film audiences once again.
