The Allagash is typically known for its abundance of moose, but there are some massive deer there and one man proved that without a doubt after snagging a massive 267-pound buck.

Kip Paules of Bowdoinham took the shot and after a quick 20-yard run, the buck fell and the real work begun. Paules, along with the help of his lifelong hunting buddies, dragged the deer for over five hours, out of the woods and back to their camp.

Paules took the shot with his .280 Remington Model 70.

The record for the biggest buck ever nabbed in Maine is still held by Horace Hinckley of Augusta. The buck weight a whopping 355 lbs., field dressed and was shot way back in 1955.
