This particular story is a few years old, however, the practice of parents injecting their children with Botox for the purpose of winning beauty pageants is very much current. We have seen similar stories time and time again and every time it makes our stomachs turn.

In the video below you will see one San Francisco mother who puts her 8-year-old daughter through a painful journey for the sole purpose of getting rid of wrinkles. All this is done so she is able to place better in beauty pageants.

What 8-year-old has wrinkles? We asked ourselves the same question. This is nothing more than a case of parents trying to push their children into acceptance and victory in a world where young girls are judged based on their appearance.

Do these moms go to far? The young girl featured in the video doesn’t just get botox, she also gets waxed and her mother defends both practices. The mother states many other pageant moms are practicing the same methods in order to get their daughters to achieve great success in the beauty pageant world.

I personally have never felt right about child beauty pageants. Sure there are some that are in good faith and are put on just for entertainment purposes. However, the full blown pageant circuit is a tad strange in my opinion. When mothers are pushing their daughters to change their normal appearance in order to impress others, this is molding their small minds into believing that this is what makes them acceptable in society.

I would much rather see parents pushing their children to achieve great success in an academic showdown opposed to parading around on stage in clothing meant for adults and a face full of Botox and makeup.

What are you thoughts? Is this an acceptable practice?
