A Bangladeshi man reportedly inspired by ISIS set off a pipe bomb inside New York’s Port Authority bus terminal during rush hour Monday morning (12/11/2017), creating mass chaos but causing few injuries — mainly because the “attempted terrorist” detonated his “low tech device” prematurely.

Akayed Ullah, 27 set off the bomb prematurely around 7:30 a.m. Ullah suffered burns and wounds to his abdomen and hands. Ullah was the only person seriously injured in the pipe bomb explosion, authorities said. There were other minor injuries reported, such as ringing of the ears and headaches. The few civilians that reported injuries are set to be released from the hospital later today.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said: “This was attempted terrorist attack,” adding that there was no additional threat at this time. Authorities are investigating transit system video that captured the incident.

That video can be seen below.
