16. Lucy the Elephant – Margate City, New Jersey
Lucy may not be the best road side attraction, but she was the first.
She was built in 1881 to attract real estate business. Visitors can actually climb up into her carriage.
17. Bedrock City – Routes 180 and 64, Arizona
This Flintstones-themed park is a little run down, but you can still tour Fred’s house and park your RV in the campground.
18. Southern Forest World – Waycross, Georgia
This attraction is really supposed to be about the forestry business, however the main attraction is clearly Stuckie, a petrified dog who was discovered inside a log in the 1980s.
19. Dinosaur Statues – Cabazon, California
You may remember this attraction from a quick scene in Pee Wee’s Big Adventure (1985).
Dinny and Mr. Rex used to shill for a nearby restaurant.
These days, they’ve been re-purposed as mascots for a creationism museum.
20. Cadillac Ranch – Amarillo, Texas
This attraction is nothing more than a bunch of old Caddy’s that have met their maker. Tourists are encouraged to paint them!
21. Hole N” The Rock – Moab, Utah
Now this place is amazing! A family carved their 50,000 square foot home into this sandstone formation, complete with 14 rooms, a fireplace, and a 65-foot chimney.
Today, the rock also includes a restaurant and zoo.
22. Killer Bee Statue – Hidalgo, Texas
The mayor of Hidalgo capitalized on the town’s fame as the place where deadly killer bees first crossed into America. This massive $20,000 statue marks the historic event – however – there is really no such thing as killer bees!
23. Prada Marfa – Marfa, Texas
An artist actually created this fake store in the middle of nowhere. However, the store does actually feature real Prada handbags and shoes.
The shoes are non-matching pairs and the bags have no bottoms, but thieves still take them from time to time.
24. Beer Can House – Houston, Texas
This home from the late ’60s was built using nothing but beer cans, beer bottles, and botte caps.
It features at least 50,000 cans.
25. World’s Largest Buffalo – Jamestown, North Dakota
This beast is 26-feet tall and EVERYTHING is completely to scale (if you know what I mean). So watch out which angle you take pics at!
26. UFO Watchtower – Hooper, Colorado
The San Luis valley is famous for extraterrestrial sightings, and this observation tower draws thousands of visitors a year.
There is also a campground nearby and the venue hosts alien-themed weddings that are -well- out of this world.
27. World’s Largest Chest of Drawers – High Point, North Carolina
High Point lays claim to the “home furnishings capital of the world,”.
The chest itself is 32-feet high, and the socks dangling out of it are six feet long.
28. Barney Smith’s Toilet Seat Art Museum – San Antonio, Texas
Once a plumber, now a toilet lid artist! This dude has over 1,300 lids you check out! Just don’t ‘use’ them!
29. Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum – Gatlinburg, Tennessee
Something tells me this person spent a lot of time at yard sales and Goodwill’s!
Jack Daniel’s Distillery is typically the main attraction in Gatlinburg, but don’t pass up this adorable little museum,
It’s stuffed to the gills with 20,000 salt and pepper sets, including shakers that date back to the 1500’s.
30. The Thing – Dragoon, Arizona
This place has been drawing huge crowds since the 1950’s.
Follow the signs advertising it and you’ll reach a mysterious museum. It’s $1 to tour the collection of bizarre artifacts (or just 75 cents for children), with The Thing as the main attraction.
What is ‘The Thing’? We won’t spoil that for you.
31. World’s Most Scenic Urinal – Kealakekua, Hawaii
Need to take a peeps? Well, you won’t find another urinal on earth that will offer you a urination experience like this one!
