A 12-year-old girl was clinging to a bridge in Pasadena, California when a rookie police officer arrived. The child was described by police as “sobbing and desperate” and ready to jump.

When Officer Perez heard the call that there was a possible ‘jumper’ on a nearby bridge, he rushed over.

Perez was able to start a conversation with the 12-year-old girl, who was on the opposite side of the railing getting ready to jump roughly 80 feet to her death.

Perez states that the girl was upset over how she was being treated at a youth home she was living at. The girl told Perez that she has no family other than one aunt, whom she wanted to live with.

Perez was able to gain the young girls trust and eventually was able to reach over the railing and pull the girl to safety. One life saved and hopefully this marks a new beginning in the life of this little girl.

Well done Officer Perez…well done!
