The holiday is a week away, but America’s Dad Tom Hanks just won the dress-up game and introduced the nation to a new Halloween icon when he hosted Saturday Night Live: David Pumpkins.

The sketch in which the character appeared, “Haunted Elevator,” started off relatively nondescript. It seemed like a standard Halloween piece, with Beck Beckett and Kate McKinnon as a couple visiting a haunted elevator attraction, steered by SNL vet and former Mighty Duck knuckle puck specialist Keenan Thompson.

The haunted elevator opens up on a few floors with the typical standard scares—a suicidal bride, a murderous cook—before revealing Hanks in a full-on jack-o’-lantern suit and tie combo flanked by two skeletons. “How’s it hangin’?” he asks. “I’m David Pumpkins, and I’m gonna scare the hell out of you.”

Breaking the spooky mood, the skeletons and Hanks/Pumpkins bust out dancing to a ridiculous tune. “Any questions?” he asks, and the doors shut.

The couple has no idea what to think. After a normal, scary floor, the elevator doors open to Pumpkins & Co. again….and then again and again.

Have a look at the sketch below, but we warn you…the tune David Pumpkin dances to is quite catchy!
