For years I have often answered the question “How are you?” with, “Doing well, just living the dream”. Well that statement may have been a tiny white lie at times, we have found a woman who is doing just that, living the dream, all the time!
Mama Lee, as she’s known on the luxury ship, Crystal Serenity, has been living on a luxury cruise ship for almost seven years. Mama cruises the world, enjoying breathtaking views, fine foods and plenty of great entertainment!
After her husband passed away, she sold off her home in Florida, packed up all of her belongings, and took to the ocean., “My husband introduced me to cruising,” she told USA Today. “Mason was a banker and real estate appraiser and taught me to love cruising. During our 50-year marriage we did 89 cruises. I’ve done nearly a hundred more and 15 world cruises.” And now, she claims that she’s been to every country that has a port — and we believe her.
At times, Lee doesn’t even bother to get off the ship when it ports. She has been to these places so many times that she rather take advantage of the extreme quietness that the empty ship has to offer while at port.
Living this luxury lifestyle comes with a hefty price tag however, roughly $164,000 per year. Lee doesn’t have to pay for groceries, living expenses, mortgage, etc…and there is an all you can eat buffet available everyday! As Mama Lee stated herself, today she’s “living a stress-free, fairy-tale life.”
Her family visits as often as they can, and when her ship pulls into Miami, she hops off and pays them a visit. Otherwise, she keeps in touch with them online, talking to her sons and grandchildren every day. Besides, many of the crew members on the ship are basically family members now, since they’ve been together so long (and she’s even been there longer then a few crew mates). But when she does come across a new friend, she’s got business cards ready for them that read: “Mama Lee — Dancing, Cruising, Enjoying Life.”
