This is what the art world calls an anamorphic illusion drawing. The image is drawn on a flat piece of pastel paper using H graphite and charcoal pencils.
The upper portion of the body is drawn to appear as though it is looking upwards. The access paper surrounding the upper portion of the body is then cut out, truly giving the image the appearance that it is in 3D and sticking out of the paper, when in fact the entire piece is actually flat.
