In 1875, Sylvester K. Pierce, a wealthy chair manufacturer, designed and built a magnificent Victorian home. The 6,661-sq-ft historic house with 10 bedrooms would naturally fetch a million dollar plus price tag, but it sold for far less a few years ago…roughly $300k. Why so cheap? Well, it’s one of the most haunted places in New England!

The SK Pierce Mansion. This beautiful Gardner, Massachusetts home boasts 10 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, 11-foot ceilings, marble fireplaces, and all-original windows, doorknobs, hinges, and floors.

This mansion is listed as one of the most haunted homes in all of New England.

Over the years (in the hands of different owners), seven individual deaths have been documented in this house, including a strangled prostitute.

There has been so many paranormal activities in the house that it’s been investigated by TV shows like 10 Most Haunted Places in New England, Ghost Adventure, Ghost Hunters, and My Ghost Story. It’s also been featured in many books.

Many have claimed seeing ghosts inside this gorgeous mansion. Among the sightings include a figure of a busy servant girl, a little boy who stares longingly out the front window, and what is only described as a sad woman.

Aside from being a private home, the SK Pierce Mansion has also been a Freemason hall and a brothel and has seen quite a number of colorful figures throughout the years.

Unfortunately, its previous owners weren’t aware of its chilling history and we’re simply happy to be living in a gorgeous, historical home.

Just a couple of weeks after they moved in, the couple began to experience strange and terrifying things. They started hearing chants and whispers, saw objects move, and smelled foul odors throughout the house.

It wasn’t long before these activities intensified and soon shadows were darting from room to room, their master bedroom was banged upon and they started hearing voices calling their names. Full body apparitions also began to appear.

Investigators have also witnessed many hair-raising phenomena. For instance, during one nighttime exploration of the house, investigators were able to record a strange voice that seemed to say, “Squeeze every throat.”

In another investigation, the ghost hunters asked the room, “Who is the current owner of this house?” The response very clearly stated, “Lillian.” That was, indeed, the name of the homeowner.

But despite the mansions many chilling mysteries, it still has a charming appeal. In fact, throughout the years, it has drawn the company of Norman Rockwell, Calvin Coolidge, Bette Davis, and P. T. Barnum.
