In the Netherlands, there’s a quaint little village that looks like it came out of a fairytale.
The village of Giethoorn is known as the ‘Venice of the North’ for having intertwining waterways that serve as their main mode of transportation. It has no roads, only canals. Visitors need to leave their cars outside the village and enter by foot or boat.
Locals call their boats ‘whisper boats’ because of their noiseless engines. Typically the loudest noise you will hear in the town is that of quacking ducks.
When all you use for travelling are tiny boats, the amount of pollution is very limited too!
In the winter, the canals freeze up and become perfect for ice skating! Locals and visitors are able to skate all through ‘town’!
Residents take pride in keeping their unique town super clean, bright and vibrant!
All of the lawns, gardens and flowers are absolutely perfect and gorgeous!
What a wonderful place to live! Even going for a visit would be a trip to remember!
