A few super intelligent, peacemaking, free spirited hippies calling themselves ‘The Twelve Tribes’ created one of the coolest camper buses in the world. Well, actually they have two of these awesome buses.
In 2005 he group turned a 1955 GMC Scenicruiser and a 1949 General American Aerocoach into a modern day, fully functional motor home and man oh man is it awesome! The bus is called ‘The Peacemaker II’ as the original peacemaker was built in 1987.
The original ‘Peacemaker’ is made up of a 1961 GMC motor coach and parts from a 1950 Aerocoach. It has been well over 500,000 miles since its conversion in 1987. It is now on its third paint job, third transmission, third engine and countless sets of tires. Even now, we are preparing to bring it back into our “bus barn” for a complete freshening.
The buses are known all over the world and turn heads wherever they go. The group travels in the buses, hitting concerts and festivals while spreading love, hope and peace.
Back in the mid ’80s when the Grateful Dead were still touring, the group used to bring their big unique looking bus to many of their shows. There was a show on April 3, 1989 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where they were offering free medical care to the concertgoers.
You can read the entire history of the bus over at the Twelve Tribes website!
