Well this is certainly something that you don’t see everyday! Typically you find Sumo wrestlers inside a ring of sorts, tossing their weight around in order to become victorious over their opponent, not battling it out on the track!
Sumo wrestlers are known for endurance, stamina, patience, and many other attributes that are instrumental for success in Japan’s national sport. What wrestlers are not always known for is their speed in track and field athletics, because no one could imagine that the weight required for sumo would allow them to compete against the likes of Usain Bolt.
These three wrestlers had stopped in Wakayama Prefecture during a national autumn tour, and they decided to use their free time to test themselves on the race track!
