After asking for advice on how to open a cupboard without creating an avalanche of china, Facebook user Seng Shao-Tsen received more household advice than expected. Thousands of people chimed in with their own solutions–though some suggestions were more ‘creative’ than others. Check out their ‘helpful’ responses below!

Here is the cupboard in question.

Here is some of the advice that was received:

  1. ‘Open the door just a tiny bit and fill the whole thing with expanding foam’.

  2. ‘Sell it to the museum and name it the “Frozen in Time” series’

  3. ‘Try switching it off then switching it back on again’.

  4. ‘Tilt the cupboard backwards, then open’

  5. ‘Flood the house, then open the cupboard without any risk!’

  6. ‘Build an identical house next to your existing house with only one difference, the plates would be on the shelf. Then delete the old house’

  7. ‘It is a matter of economics, if the plates are cheap open the door. If the plates are irreplaceable smash the glass on the right’

  8. ‘Photoshop the image as to how it was before this happened and print out the image and stick it in the glass.’

  9. ‘Spin the house round and round and round until the centrifugal force pushes the plates back onto the shelf. Be careful to stop the spin slowly.’

  10. ‘Break the wall from the back of the cupboard’.

  11. And perhaps the best suggestion

‘Spend a few months in the secret mountain tops of Japan and train. You must become a ninja with lightning reflexes. With your newly found ninja skills catching those plates when you open the cupboard will be easy.’

Apparently, the china cabinet doors were in fact opened without incident… but I have to wonder which method the homeowner chose to use.
