Traveling is so enjoyable because of all the new adventures and discoveries you will make. However, nowadays with apps such as Instagram, Google maps and Trip Advisor, the magic of not knowing what to expect and just going with the flow has significantly diminished. We seem to know exactly where to go, where to take that perfect photo, which restaurants to eat in, rather than just bask in the unexpected and be surprised.

With all these new budget airlines selling flights at crazy low prices, traveling to different locations in different continents is way more affordable. It’s not a big surprise that people have been taking shorter trips in order to see more countries during their holidays. It also keeps your mind fresh by taking short little escapades in order to relieve yourself from the daily grind – rather than working hard all year and combining all your vacation days during the summer.

These price changes and flight availabilities have significantly changed people’s ways to vacation. The trend of travelling more often at shorter periods is now a fact:

“The Office for National Statistics in the UK conducted a survey called the International Passenger Survey in 1996 and 2016 to uncover the biggest changes in the travel habits between the 1990s and now – that’s a 20-year study,” Drifter Planet writes.

There are some travellers though that definitely doesn’t want to come across something unexpected, and would most likely be happier and more relaxed if they stayed in the comforts of their home. You’ll most likely find them in the all-English speaking pueblos surrounding the Spanish coast, unbelievably red from the sun, eating Fish and Chips and complaining that local supermarkets over there don’t sell Marmite and baked beans.

There are also another group of travellers that are just there with their selfie sticks to take the next best Instagram photo in the most overused area with the exact same pose. Hardly the romantic and exhilarating experience of travel, is it?

When the reality fails to match all these heavily edited and unrealistic Instagram posts, people tend to get disappointed and start complaining about the dumbest things.

Based on a Thomas Cook/ABTA survey, these 15 vacation complaints were made to real tour companies and travel agents, and are so hilariously absurd that they needed to be shared to the public.

Spanish people only speak Spanish in Spain? They only serve Spanish Food?

I guess there is a valuable lesson to be taken from all this ridiculous complaining: Travel without expectations, and plan to be surprised! Keep in mind the you are not the only person in this world and that the people around you don’t care about your perfect Instagram shot. Travel with an open mind to learn and explore.
