Use a Warm Compress to Increase Blood Flow

On the third day, after applying the cold compress for 2 days, it is about time to switch to a warm compress. The reason why we need to use a warm compress, would be to increase the blood circulation in the affected area. Increased blood circulation may help the hickey fade sooner. A heat compress can be applied via a damp towel dipped in hot water, via the use of a hot water bottle, or with a hair dryer while mildly massaging the area with your fingertips. Apply the warm compress for 10 minutes at a time, you may do this several times per day. Applied heat via the warm compress enables fresh blood to flood to the area affected by the hickey, therefore dilating the blood capillaries and clearing the blood clots. Just keep in mind that the warm compress should just be warm enough, but not scalding hot. We don’t want the cure to cause an additional injury.
