A farmer in Scotland made a spectacular discovery. It all started when he was moving some stones aside, cleaning up some of his farm land. As the farmer removed an out of place rock, an incredibly discovery was made. There was a complete dwelling buried below.
Turns out, this was not just a house. It was the lost city of Skara Brae, one of the oldest settlements in Great Britain! It definitely has some very interesting history to it!
He farms on the island of Orkney and this is where the mind blowing discovery happened.
The lost city of Skara Brae, which is said to be nearly 5,000 years old is older than the pyramids!
Covered in sand dunes, the site is very well preserved, one of the most well kept historic locations ever.
While most of the city was destroyed, 8 houses were well preserved. Each house is said to have held around 50-100 people.
There is a water basin in the middle where it is believed fish were kept as this is was the villages main source of protein.
Underground tunnels connect the homes, but stones were blocked at entrances for privacy.
