The Big Bang Theory is an American TV sitcom which premiered on September 24, 2007, and ended May 16, 2019. It broadcasted a total of 279 episodes over 12 seasons. The show is centered on 5 characters in Pasadena, California, with two physicists at Caltech who share an apartment as the main drawers (played by Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki). Parsons’ character Sheldon Cooper is the eccentric genius with the witty and hilarious one-liners. The series made him a household name, and Parsons was awarded an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series 4 times. He also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Comedy Series in 2011. The series spawned a prequel in 2017 based on Parson’s character – Young Sheldon. Parsons was earning an impressive $900,000 per episode, and about $10 million a year from various reruns. With channels fighting to secure the rights, Parsons surely will not need to work, but fortunately for fans, that is highly unlikely.
