The Strid River in the middle of Yorkshire is a lovely place to go for a walk and commune with nature. It is an amazing countryside, but don’t let the seemingly calm waters fool you. Swimming here is dangerous, there is a strong underwater current that can drown even champion swimmers. Plus there are jagged rocks, and the rapids are violent. You don’t want to bounce off these rocks for sure. Several people have died in this river, some of them children. Admire the river from the banks, it is much safer. Besides, the water surely is cold, so stay warm and safe on land.
