Manicure is a beauty treatment for the hands and nails that can be performed in a beauty salon like Spa Fredericton or at home.  A manicure consists of hand massage, clipping, filing, cuticle treatment, pushing, shaping, and the application of nail art or nail polish.  This beauty treatment has some health benefits like it increases blood circulation and helps to prevent fungal diseases.  We are going to tell you easy steps to achieve a salon-quality manicure at home during Quarantine.

Remove Nail Polish

First of all, start by removing the existing nail paints with a nail polish remover that contains Vitamin E, which is an essential element in the overall health of the nails.

Trim, Shape & Buff Nails:-

The next step is  to trim the nails to get rid of excess length, so using a nail clipper just cut your nails to the desired length.  Once that’s done, shape your nails with a nail filer. Make sure not to file in a back-and-forth motion as it can be very traumatic for your nail bed, and this is one mistake I am sure most of us make. Always follow one swift motion using smooth strokes, then just buff the nails, which will smooth out any ridges or rough patches on the nails. Make sure not to buff too much as it can damage the nails as well.  Five to six strokes of buffing should be enough. Afterwhich, go ahead and dip your nails in warm water mixed with liquid soap. You can use a brush to rub back and forth across and underneath the nails to clean out dirt; this will also soften your cuticles. Making sure it’s ready for the next step, soak your nails in this liquid for a few minutes, then take it out and pat dry.

Pushing back Cuticles

Now, with a cuticle pusher, push back your softened cuticles until they appear as a thin line on your nails. Make sure to do this gently, or you might end up damaging your nail bed. Do not cut the cuticles as they prevent fungi and bacteria from entering the nails.

Moisturizing hand and Nails

Now, apply moisturizer and massage your nails and hands. Before applying nail polish, make sure to use a cotton pad to wipe the moisturizer off your nails.  Now apply a base coat as it holds polish in place and prevents dark nail polishes from damaging and staining the nail bed, so apply it evenly all over your nails.

Applying Nail Polish

Here comes the favorite part of actually using nail polish.  Apply a coat of gel style nail polish, making sure to get the brush from the cuticles and into the corners of the nails. Apply the second coat after the first coat is semi-dry.  Dry your nails for a few minutes and then finish off with a final coat. Wearing a top coat will prevent your nails from cracking and adds shine to the nails.
