Similar to the Maltese, they are excellent dog companions for seniors. They are adorable and loving, playful but not destructive. They love to spend time with their owners and are sweet gentle dogs. They are quiet and hardly bark or growl. Their coat is easy to maintain with regular brushing. They are the national dog of Cuba. Unfortunately, their ancestors are now extinct. Experts believe this to be the Blanquito de la Habana, which came from the also extinct Bichon Tenerife. They have a very soft, double coat which is also hypoallergenic. They do not actually shed, but constant brushing is required so the hair won’t get tangled.
