A legal notice earlier this month stated that Elvis Presley’s historic Graceland mansion would be up for foreclosure auction on Thursday, sparking a heated dispute over the property’s future.

According to the court filing, Lisa Marie Presley, the daughter of Elvis Presley, is said to have executed a Deed of Trust in 2018 in order to obtain a $3.8 million loan through Naussany Investments and Private Lending, a company that uses Graceland as collateral.

Lisa Marie Presley, according to the company, never returned those funds before passing away last year. The company also started preparations for Elvis Presley’s Memphis, Tennessee, former residence and the surrounding land on Elvis Presley Boulevard to be auctioned off at a foreclosure sale to the highest bidder. The mansion is situated in Memphis’ Whitehaven neighborhood and is currently a museum.

The legendary singer’s family, however, is arguing that the alleged sale is fraudulent and contesting its legality.
