Summer has past and winter is approaching fast. For many of us fall is our favorite time of year and we want our homes to have an aroma that reminds of taking a brisk walk in the woods, or a cozy fall day where you stay inside and cook warm, wholesome meals.
Sure you can buy potpourris at the store, but what fun is that? Create your own fall smells at home and have a tasty meal to boot! Below are a few simple recipes you can make with a crock pot that will have your home smelling better than ever!
Some more crock pot recipes our grandmothers used to do. Ingredients like cinnamon sticks, apple peels, orange rinds, cloves, apple juice, vanilla, anise, and nutmeg will soon make your home smell like you’ve been baking all day.
Be Prepared: Get into the habit of saving (rather than composting) your orange peels, lemon and lime peels, and apple and pear skins skins.
Instructions: Fill a small saucepan with water and bring to a boil. Add the ingredients from your favorite recipe, continue to boil for a few minutes, then turn the heat down to simmer. Add water as needed, usually every 30 minutes or so.
