Another reason why people get nosebleeds can be due to alcohol and drug abuse. Drugs, especially cocaine – which is normally snorted through the nostrils – can create a harsh and irritated passageway, ending with bleeding. In extreme cases, nosebleeds can even lead to a hemorrhage, making blood flow much thicker and much worse in nature. With alcohol, drinking in excess actually dilates the blood vessels and prohibits blood clotting, which can make nosebleeds worse than they should be.
