Unless the colon cancer is diagnosed and treated before its advanced stages, it may lead to other symptoms, such as fever, air bubbles in the urine, fractures and bone pain, breathing problems, and neurological problems. A fever is a symptom of a colon tumor perforating the intestine and causing abdominal abscesses. If the tumor in the colon spreads to the bladder, this can lead to pneumaturia or the passage of gas or air in the urine. If the colon cancer has spread to the bones, this can bring about dull, deep, or penetrating bone pain as well as bone weakness that can easily lead to fractures. If the cancer has metastasized to the lungs, expect dyspnea or shortness of breath, coughing, and chest pain. Headaches, changes in vision, confusion, and seizures may occur if the colorectal cancer has spread to the brain or spinal cord.
