Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) is a very serious medical condition that occurs when a blood clot forms in a vein located deep inside your body. A blood clot is a clump of blood that has solidified and creates blockage in your veins. Deep vein clots usually form in your thigh or lower legs, but they can also develop in other areas of your body. Symptoms only present in half of people who have DVT, but it is helpful to know them anyway, so you know what to look out for.

A common symptom of deep vein thrombosis is a leg that is swollen below the knee. Redness, tenderness, and pain may occur in the area of the clot.
