This $19.6 billion Itaipu hydroelectric dam is located on the Parana River located in between the Brazil and Paraguay border. It’s also the most expensive man-made object to have ever been built. It has four combined dams that give it a length of 23,737-feet in total and it works as a hydroelectric power plant that’s managed “to produce the most energy (of any kind) in 2016.” Plans for the dam were first discussed all the way back in 1960s but it only came to complete fruition by 1984.
