34. World’s Most Expensive Typewriter to be Sold at Auction – $254,500
Today’s generation might not understand what this contraption is, but they’ll probably recognize that this is where modern day keyboards came from. This Lettera 32 Olivetti typewriter in light blue was bought at a more affordable $50 back in 1963 by author Cormac McCarthy, who penned the novel No Country for Old Men. The author eventually sold it once again at auction in recent years, and it managed to fetch a price of $254,500. Of course it was notable that the price increase was also due to the fact that Cormac McCarthy was the last known owner.
