It may not look like a camera to you, but this Susse Freres daguerreotype camera is said to be the very first commercially manufactured camera in the world. It originated from 1839, which also makes it the oldest in the world as well. Back in 2007, it sold at auction for $775,000, and has remained with the buyer since. There has been no evidence that it has been sold at any other auction, nor is there a camera that has taken its place as the most expensive either.
