59. World’s Most Expensive Atlas – almost $4 Million

If you’ve ever owned an atlas, then you know the joy of seeing where in the world things sit, and where exactly you stand in the midst of our planet. And it would seem that one particular buyer was just as interested in how the world looked originally, after buying the Ptolemy’s Cosmographia from 1477 for a stunning $3,991,970. The atlas had been originally printed back in Bologna, Italy before joining the Wardington Library Collection.
