This Head of a Muse drawing by the old master, Raphael, is dated all the way back to the 15th century, which is why it’ cost $47.9 million. Sold at a 2009 Christie’s auction to a private bidder, this pencil on paper drawing is a true piece of history that all the auction goers must have felt considering the price originated at $20 million but sold for more than twice that amount. It’s yet another reminder that some things, no matter how unassuming, are worth every penny.
