Here is what you will need to start making Crisco based candles!

  • Crisco
  • Thermometer
  • Candle Wicks
  • Essential Oils for the smell
  • Glass jars or molds for candles
  • Double boiler or saucepan and a glass jar

Step One:

Melt the Crisco in a saucepan or jar. Fill the saucepan with water and bring it to a slow simmer. Add the Crisco to the jar and then place it in the saucepan. Keep stirring the Crisco as it melts and check the temperature frequently. You want the Crisco to be melt down to about 150 degrees Fahrenheit.

Once the Crisco is melted and heated to 150 degrees, this is when you add your essential oils. Stir the scent in and make sure to stir the mixture so the scent is evenly distributed.

Step Two:

Pour the mixture into candle jars or candle molds. Using a funnel works best!

Step Three:

Add candle wicks right in the middle of the candle. You can use a candle holder if they do not stay in place.

Step Four:

Trim the wicks and then enjoy your candle! It’s really that simple!

These candles can last over 100 hours! How easy and cool!Â
