Adrian Young is a school crossing guard at Alexandria Elementary School in Los Angeles. She was about to leave work from her usual crosswalk spot one day when she heard a little girl scream.

“She was like ‘Please don’t let her take me. I don’t know her. She’s not my mom,’” Young said.

She immediately ran over to the little girl to help. “I just told her to grab onto me as tight as she could, and I held onto her and the lady just began to attack me, so I just thought about attacking her to make sure she can’t take this little girl.”

Young is just 4’8” tall, but she was able to defend this little girl with her body, inevitably saving her life. Thanks to her help, 50-year-old Maria Ramirez was identified as the attacker, and is now being held on a $100,000 bail.

The school honored Young’s heroism at a surprise ceremony on campus, where the little girl’s mother was able to offer her own gratitude. She said,

“If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t know where my daughter would be.”

Such a wonderful story that proves if you feel a situation isn’t right, get involved. If you are wrong, so be it, if you are right…you could save a life.
