If you live in a place where your Winter’s consist of freezing temperatures, snow and ice, you know the struggle. The struggle of heading out to your vehicle and finding the windshield and windows covered in frost/ice. Scraping the windows takes too much time and lets face it, it’s freaking cold out! So, there has to be a better solution right? Well, there is!

With this little life hack, and just two ingredients, you can clean of ice and frost from your windshield in under one minute!

Fill up a spray bottle with two parts rubbing alcohol (70-percent isopropyl alcohol) and one part tap water. Make sure the mixture stays at room temperature and do not store it in your car between uses.

Spray the mixture on your windshield and the ice will start melting immediately. Let it sit for a minute, then use your scraper to simply wipe off the ice!

The mixture’s warm temperature causes some of the ice to thaw. Heat then transfers from that melting mess to the unbroken ice around it, which triggers even more melting.

So why not just pour warm water on your windshield? Well, it would definitely melt the ice, but it would simply just freeze again.

The rubbing alcohol/water mixture has a much lower freezing point (5 degrees Fahrenheit) than water’s 32 degrees. That means it won’t refreeze on your windshield unless the temperature outside dips close to 0 degrees.

Now, with this hack, you can enjoy a few more minutes of your morning coffee — or hit that snooze button one more time!
