A man has sparked controversy after standing in front of a vegan protest and eating a KFC while watching them.

Footage of the man was upload to the viral video social media app TikTok and it immediately began receiving reactions. The video was posted with the caption: “Meat eating protest in Sydney gets a hungry visitor.”

The protest was put on by vegan activist group Anonymous for the Voiceless. The group was protesting outside the Sydney, Australia Town Hall before the man came and silently stood by them — eating a bucket of fried chicken.

The activists were wearing masks and blindfolds, holding screens that showed horrific footage of the reality behind the meat industry, with videos of animals being slaughtered. Meanwhile, the unnamed man looked on slowly eating what appeared to be chicken from a KFC box.

Some viewers found the clip to be rather funny, while others slammed the man for being immature and poking fun at the group of protesters.

The Facebook event for the group, hosted by Animal Rights Activism Sydney, reads: “The Cube of Truth is a peaceful static demonstration aimed at revealing the realities of Australian animal agriculture and facilitating engagement with the public through vegan outreach.”

Protesters wear the famous ‘V for Vendetta’ masks, and, as the website explains: “The mask has been used by Anonymous, as well as by thousands of others around the world in recent history, as a unifying symbol against the forces that still promote discrimination, corruption, injustice and oppression in any form in our society today.

“By wearing the mask, activists are together with the trillions of animals that are unnecessarily exploited and killed every year by the globalised animal-food industries.”
