Being a working mother is a much more common thing nowadays than it was, say, 80 years ago. Now, people no longer believe that a woman’s place is limited to the home — so working mothers are a normal part of modern life. As a label, working mothers are women who work outside the home for income, in addition to the work they perform at home raising their children. Yesenia Barragan of California is a working mother, with a four-year-old daughter named Zoyee. She rarely left her toddler’s side, however, as she is also a single mom and the primary caregiver for little Zoyee.

When Barragan got word that her presence was required in a business meeting out of town, her heart sank when she found out that she could not bring her daughter.
