Morgan Freeman isn’t just an award winning actor and film maker, he is also an amazing philanthropist and environmental conversationalist.

Despite all of Freeman’s incredible feats, bee keeper can now be added to his long list of awesome life achievements. The star first mentioned his beekeeping passion project back in 2014 on an episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, during which he stressed the importance of preserving wild bees to maintain a balanced environment. Now, it seems Freeman’s hobby has grown into something much more.

Morgan Freeman imported 26 beehives from Arkansas to his 124-acre ranch in Mississippi to convert the property into a full-time bee sanctuary. Freeman encourages bee population growth by planting bee-friendly vegetation like magnolia trees, lavender, and clover throughout the massive property. Freeman has no interest in harvesting any honey from the bees, but he does visit the hives with sugar water in order to keep them healthy.

You don’t have to create an entire bee sanctuary like Freeman in order to help the bee population though. By simply placing a bowl of sugar water outside your home, you will be keeping local bees happy and healthy! The environment will thank you!
