The world sees everyone differently – from things you can control, like how you treat others and the way you dress, to things outside of your control, like where you grew up, the color of your skin, and any medical conditions you were born with. All of these things create opinions of you by others. You may have never spoken a word to someone, but, whether you like or not, they have already formed an opinion about you.

In the video below we are offered a glimpse into the life of Anna Rose, a 19-year-old girl from New Jersey who has Down syndrome. She currently attends college, works part-time at a physical therapy center, and plays sports with the Special Olympics. Anna sees herself as a well-rounded person who’s going to go on to do great things.

“This is how I see myself. I see myself as a daughter. As a sister and a best friend. As a person you can rely on. I see myself meeting someone that I can share my life with.

“I see myself singing dancing and laughing until I cannot breathe.

“I see myself as an ordinary person with an important, meaningful, and beautiful life. This is how I see myself. How do you see me?”

Game of Thrones actress Oliva Wilde plays the part of Anna Rose in this super powerful video. The video was released for World Down Syndrome Day, but the video applies to many far beyond those who have Down Syndrome. The message can be applied to all of us.

This is well worth a share!
