Hundreds of farmers kept quiet during an auction so a young man could win the bid and buy back his families farm.

David’s family had been farmers for many decades. Years ago, one of David’s family members sold off the 80-acre family farm to a relative who didn’t have their best interests in mind. Needless to say, the family was not happy about this.

David was determined to win the families farm back after it was put up for auction some years later. So David and his father did what they could to pull together the resources needed to attempt to get a winning bid on the property.

On the day of the auction, nearly 200 farmers were in attendance and ready to bid. David and his father thought that their odds of placing the winning bid, was slim.

When the auction started, David and his father placed their bid. Much to their surprise, not one person in attendance spoke up and placed another bid.

As it turned out, all of the farmers at the auction decided that they would not place a bid on the property so that David and his father could win the auction and reclaim their family’s property.

After the auctioneer asked three times for any other bids and no bids came in, he slammed his gavel down and the auction was over! David and his father had won!

“I’ve had two profoundly humbling days in my life,” David said. “The first was the day my son was born. The second was that unforgettable day at the auction house.”
