Amazon said it is investigating what has happened to missing PlayStation 5 deliveries, amid reports of thefts.

Some customers in the UK who ordered the brand new and in-high-demand PlayStation 5, are receiving anything but the system the ordered. Instead of receiving their intended package, customers are receiving, toys, kitchen appliances and even dog food instead.

Many feared their consoles had been stolen in transit, with allegations levelled at delivery staff.

“We’re really sorry about that and are investigating exactly what’s happened,” Amazon said.

Incorrect items being put in boxes is not unheard of, but the shortage of stock of PlayStation 5 consoles – and the fact that they are being sold at inflated prices online – led to customers fearing their allocation had been stolen.

Disgruntled customers took to Twitter to post photos and videos of air fryers, dog food, electric grills, or even Himalayan salt lamps they say they never ordered.

While some claims have not been fully verified by Amazon, Amazon does admit that there are issue that have been verified in which customers did not receive their PlayStation 5.

“We’re all about making our customers happy, and that hasn’t happened for a small proportion of these orders,” it said.

“We’re reaching out to every customer who’s had a problem and made us aware so we can put it right. Anyone who has had an issue with any order can contact our customer services team for help.”

Some customers have reported watching their delivery drivers pull up to their house…look at the package and then drive off. Shortly after they drive off, the customer gets a notification that their package has been delivered. Which clearly, it was not.

The PlayStation 5 is being bought and resold at double the retail price. From eBay to Facebook marketplace…people are buying the PS5 for $500 and listing them for sale at $1,000.
