Granted this article is a tad strange, because you are probably viewing it on a smartphone or some sort of smart device. However, the photos you are about to see, truly show a lonely side of the world. A world in which we all exist in and are a part of. The photos are impact-full and maybe, when you are done looking at them – you will put down your smartphone for a bit and enjoy the world happening around you — in the now.

US photographer Eric Pickersgill has created “Removed,” a series of photos to remind us of how strange that pose actually is. In each portrait, electronic devices have been “edited out” (removed before the photo was taken, from people who’d been using them) so that people stare at their hands, or the empty space between their hands, often ignoring beautiful surroundings or opportunities for human connection. The results are sad, lonely and quite
