Photo showing the first McDonald’s in San Bernardino, California which opened in May 1940. Founded by brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald, it was selling hamburgers at 15 cents and the “golden arches” were not yet in place. The first outlet only had take-out, with a 25-item barbecue menu. It has come a long way since then, becoming the world’s largest restaurant chain by revenue, with almost 38,000 outlets in over 100 countries as of 2018.
