Escobar, the Medellin cartel leader, was referred to as the “World’s Greatest Outlaw,” with his fortune from cocaine trafficking making him worth an estimated $25 billion in 1989, enough to be listed as the seventh richest man in the world according to Forbes magazine. Escobar, who was killed in a raid in December 2, 1993, remains a local hero in his hometown to this day.
