A woman is going viral after sharing the remarkable story behind her “rehabilitated” 10-year-old fish.

Lacey Scott, a sculptor with a large following on TikTok, shared the heartwarming story in a video that now has more than 6-million views. In her clip, Scott explained how she nursed the old fish, named Monstro, back to health.

Monstro, who was completely black when Scott got him in 2019, slowly changed to a shining, neon-red color as his health improved.

Scott’s touching video shows Monstro’s development over the past year. Originally, he was covered in lesions and was basically immobile inside his tank.

But Scott didn’t give up. She placed her new fish in a shallow “hospital,” where he was able to begin swimming again. He also began eating again, eventually gaining so much strength that Scott moved him to a larger tank.

Hey guys! I made a couple new tiktok videos addressing questions I keep getting about Monstro. They’re up in my stories now, and I’ll move them to my highlights. . All I can say is WOW! I was not expecting the reaction I got, but I am so happy that Monstro and his story has made so many people smile! Seriously, thank you so much for all of the kind things that you’ve said to me. I’m sorry that I’m not able to respond to everyone! . He doesn’t have his own page. I’m honestly not sure I could keep up with two pages when I can barely manage this one 😅 but I do post about him and my other pets pretty frequently in my stories. . #monstrothegoldfish #update #thankyou #heretherebesculptures

Surprisingly, his health wasn’t the only thing that changed. As he recovered, Monstro’s black scales disappeared — giving way to a shiny, almost iridescent new look.

“I don’t know how long he has left,” Scott wrote in her video. “But he’ll spend the rest of his days happy and loved.
