Dustin Diamond, who is best remembered as the nerdy sidekick “Screech” from Saved By The Bell, is battling stage 4 cancer, according to the actor’s representative.
Diamond checked into a Florida hospital this weekend after enduring pain throughout his body from shingles and a general feeling of unease. The cancer was then discovered throughout his entire body and he is now undergoing his first round of chemotherapy.
Diamond has had quite the life journey, much of that journey being defined by his role on Saved By The Bell. Diamond was a child TV star and it’s been wildly reported that his parents had wasted just about all of the money he made from filming SBTB.
A book titled ‘Dustin Diamond, Behind The Bell’, was written by Diamond — laying out the behind the scenes antics that took place during the filming of Saved By The Bell. In addition, the book is a tell all about Diamond’s life.
Despite being on of the most famous people on television at one point, it is reported that Diamond only has a net worth of $50k – $70k — less than the fee he was paid to appear on Celebrity Fit Club in 2005.
There is no doubt however, that Diamond will always hold a special place in many hearts as 90’s kids grew up with Screech on the daily!
