There is a secret trick farmers and fruit enthusiasts use in order to keep their strawberries and other berries fresh for weeks at a time!

It’s such a disappointment when you go into your fridge to grab a few strawberries, only to find out that they are starting to rot. How can this be? It feels like you just bought them!!! Well, this is a common issue when it comes to berries, but have no fear…we are here to help!

We will show you two popular methods that are proven to keep your berries fresh for over 1-weeks time.

The first method : The Vinegar Wash

First, you will need the following supplies.

  • Berries
  • Bottle of white vinegar
  • Drinking water
  • Large bowl
  • Salad spinner or colander
  • Paper towels

Once you have these items gathered, follow the steps below:

1. Mix one part white vinegar with 5 parts water in the large bowl.

2. Take the container of strawberries and pour them into the liquid mixture in the bowl.

3. Allow the berries to soak for 3-5 minutes.

4. After the 3-5 minutes passes, remove the strawberries and place them into the paper towel-lined salad spinner or colander.

5. Allow the strawberries to dry completely before storing them in a paper towel-lined container inside the fridge.

The second method : Glass Jar Storage

Simply place the berries in a glass jar, unwashed, and placed in the coldest part of the refrigerator.

This method is super simple and it does work extremely well! Make sure you have a nice tight lid for your glass jar!
