CC Sabathia

Heavy Editorial

Cy Young awardee, World Series champion, and ALCS MVP CC Sabathia played 19 seasons in Major League Baseball, pitching for the Cleveland Indians for a decade before finishing his career with the New York Yankees, where he spent 10. But before signing the largest contract for a pitcher when he joined the Yankees, CC first met his future wife, Amber, when they were just sophomores at Vallejo High School. They have been together since then, but only got married in 2003 after CC was robbed at gunpoint, which inspired him to propose. The couple now has four children together and also runs the PitCCh In Foundation, which supports the inner-city kids. The school eventually named its baseball field after him and the town celebrates January 27 as “CC Sabathia Day.”
