Former baseball center fielder Vernon Wells and his wife, Charlene Valenti, met when they both attended the James Bowie High School in Arlington, Texas. Like many gifted athletes, Vernon was a multi-sport star, playing quarterback for the football team and center field for the baseball team. His decision to focus on baseball proved to be the right one as the young slugger made the big leap to the major league after just a year in the minors. He played for the Toronto Blue Jays for 11 years, becoming a three-time All Star and Gold Glove awardee. He would move on to the Los Angeles Angels and the New York Yankees before retiring in 2013 after being released. He currently resides in upscale Westlake with his wife and two kids, where he started a wine brand with former Angels teammate Chris Iannetta, called JACK.
